Jia J. Feng (馮嘉)
Principal + Attorney.
Jia J. Feng is a skilled attorney and advocate who uses her interdisciplinary training in law and science to empower her clients to make informed and legally-sound business decisions.
Jia started her legal career as a law clerk at an established patent prosecution firm and then spent several years as an associate attorney at an intellectual property and business litigation firm. In 2018, Jia founded Protea Legal Co. with the goal of serving her clients at the unique intersection of law and design.
Jia offers a meticulous, thoughtful, and personalized approach to helping her clients achieve their business goals. Her practice includes patent and trademark prosecution, intellectual property advising, contract drafting and negotiation, and commercial litigation in the state courts of Oregon, the District Court for the District of Oregon, and before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB).
Prior to becoming a patent attorney, Jia was a research scientist in the fields of physical chemistry and biology. As an undergraduate student, she gave award-winning scientific presentations on both local and national levels; and, as a Ph.D. candidate, Jia taught biology laboratory courses at a large research university.
Outside of law and science, Jia enjoys drawing, painting, hiking the Pacific Northwest with her shiba inu, and reading science fiction novels. She’s currently making her way through the Remembrance of Earth's Past trilogy by Liu Cixin.
